Lesley worked on a project that covered five different school and nursery spaces. What really stands out is the sense of bringing the outside in; there is a very strong connection with nature from the wood-look floors to wooden furniture and even an owl feature, plus items you associate with outdoor life such as teepees.
The colour palette is soft and natural, creating a sense of calm which is furthered by a wide use of soft rugs and cushions, creating comfortable spots for children to read.
On one site, Lesley has divided a loft-style space into smaller, functional areas to be used for different activities. Some of these are small, personal spaces to give the children quieter spots to work or play in the midst of a bustling classroom. Overall, Lesley’s outstanding attention to detail, creative use of furniture, plus the nature theme make these spaces somewhere we wish we could have gone to school!
