Altro chosen as focus brand in new publication

Altro have been chosen as one of the focus brands in On Purpose: Delivering a Branded Customer Experience People Love, a new book by established business authors Shaun Smith and Andy Milligan.

Calling Altro ‘one of the most successful specialist manufacturing brands in the world’, the book is a practical guide to executing business purpose successfully. With more than ten pages on Altro, the book includes an interview with Richard Kahn, CEO Floors and Walls Division, about the company’s ethos, its long-term future and how it will get there.

On Purpose features insight from Terry Oakley, Customer Engagement Specialist, on the programme and how and why it works.

There is a section featuring Technical Director John Patsavellas on why products such as Altro Aquarius are a success and the work Altro are doing to develop the products of the future. The book also includes an interview with HR Director Tonia Millson on how customers are brought into every aspect of the business and how Altro employees are selected and trained to support that culture.

New year, new opportunities

Our good news at the end of last year was our acquisition of Debolon, a vinyl manufacturer in Germany that shares many of the values that we at Altro hold.  Also a third-generation family run business, the company has focused on sustainability and safety as its core goals for the products it develops.

I am very pleased to see the enthusiasm for this announcement and the positive reception it has had in Germany.  I think this opens a new future to both companies, where we can work together to continue to develop and produce products that exceed safety, hygiene and sustainability standards.   We can now offer a larger product portfolio and more choice to our customers, while continuing to expand and improve our current product lines.

In the near future we plan to develop and extend the Dessau manufacturing plant.  Having a highly productive manufacturing base in Central Europe is a key part of our international expansion and growth strategy.  With a production facility based in Central Europe, we can increase our commitment to sustainability by producing and distributing products more locally.  We can also continue to provide the highest standards of customer service you would expect from Altro.

We look forward to this new chapter in the history of Altro and Debolon.

Tonnes of Reasons to Recycle with Recofloor

Thank you to our members for collecting smooth and safety vinyl offcuts and uplifted smooth vinyl. Last year you recycled 508 tonnes from January to December 2015.

This is enough vinyl to cover 23 football pitches.

Clean offcuts are used in the production of new vinyl flooring at Altro's and Polyflor's UK manufacturing plants whilst the uplifted smooth vinyl is reprocessed into traffic cones and other traffic management products.

Have you visited the new look website yet?

The Recofloor website www.recofloor.org has been redesigned to make it easier for you to book collections online, request bags and find out how much you can save by using the scheme on your installations.

There's also a new resource section where you can find the latest case studies and leaflets.
