Altro kitchen solution provides customised design for unique hospital

Altro Stronghold 30, Altro Whiterock Chameleon

Wolper Jewish Hospital has one of the highest nurse to patient ratios in Australia, offering 54 spacious air-conditioned private rooms with modern ensuites and in-room services. The Hospital has built a reputation for outstanding medical care and their modern interiors provide a caring, peaceful atmosphere. With recent updates to the commercial kitchen they needed a modern flooring and walling solution to match the rest of the hospital.

Wolper is the only hospital in the southern hemisphere to have a full service fresh cook Kosher kitchen. Altro and Willobee Floor Service Sales worked closely with the hospital to create a unique design which would assist in the methodology used for cooking at Wolper. Different shades of Altro Stronghold flooring and coordinating Altro Whiterock panels were used to identify the different zones for the meat kitchen, milk kitchen and neutral zones of the kitchen.

The Altro Whiterock Chameleon panels have added a splash of colour, which have been successfully utilised to write instructions or motivational quotes, using chalk markers.

Altro Whiterock Chameleon is a glossy, vibrant and vividly colourful hygienic wall cladding that makes a bold statement. Altro Whiterock Chameleon is available in 16 high impact, high-design shades to add a little bit of affordable luxury to a range of environments.

Offering all the benefits of Altro Whiterock, Altro Whiterock Chameleon is very durable, with a smooth, watertight, wipe-clean surface.

Altro Stronghold 30 achieves Altro’s highest rating for slip resistance (PTV ≥55, R12) and is designed to minimise risk in wet and greasy conditions for the lifetime of the flooring. As well as helping to keep staff safe from slips, it also helps reduce their fatigue, thanks to its 3mm thickness which provides noise reduction and comfort underfoot.

Not only does the Altro solution provide all the safety, hygiene and cleanability a kitchen requires but also a form of creativity in colour, design and functionality. This also assists how people perceive the environment in the “way-finding” method.

Linda Cumines, Consultant Dietitian at Wolper Hospital said: “We had the Altro flooring in our kitchen previously for over 20 years and were very happy with it. Altro showed us the wall and flooring ranges and took us to inspect several sites. We were very impressed with the quality. Impressive looks and serviceability!”
