The Game On winners have been chosen

With over 14,600 votes cast for the 10 teams, voting has now come to an end in Altro's "It's Game On" amateur football team sponsorship competition. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has voted and congratulations to the 5 winning teams shown below.

AFC Shepherd Arms

AFC Shepherd Arms play in the Wakefield and District league.  The team train at Parker Road and are appealing for public votes to replace their current strip, which manager, Paul Donoghue, describes as “much needed”.  With many of the players unemployed or still in college, the team struggle to make ends meet and don’t have enough funds for a new kit.  “It’s difficult for the team to have the money needed for subs, pitch fees, travelling expenses and referees,” Paul says, “so winning a new kit from Altro would be brilliant.”

AFC Worthing

AFC Worthing

AFC Worthing is a new side, formed only three years ago, and in that short space of time the players have managed to fill their trophy cabinet, winning the Worthing & Horsham Division 3 title, reaching the Sussex Trophy semi-final and winning the cup.  Despite their success, the team, who train at Pond Lane and compete in the Worthing & Horsham Sunday League, have been playing in what manager, Mark Hunnisett, describes as a “mix and match kit”.  He says:  “Winning sponsorship for a new strip from Altro would be brilliant for us and give us a top-notch look that’s in sync with our game!”

Lindford

The club is looking for sponsorship for its ladies team, who train at Mill Chase Leisure Centre and compete in the Hampshire County Women’s League.  Linford has been a big part of the local community for 30 years.  Manager Alex Kemp feels the team should now look the part.  “Winning kit sponsorship for the women’s team would be amazing,” Alex says.  “It would not only enable us to invest funds elsewhere but it would enable
us to look our very best and do our community and supporters proud.”

Upminster FC

Upminster FC train at Hall Lane, competing in the Essex Olympian Division 2 League, and don’t currently have a shirt sponsor despite trying in vain to attract funds.  The team is run by hard working manager Bob West and play an annual charity match in memory of Bob’s wife, who died of breast cancer.  As club captain Glenn Wright explains, a new strip for the club would be a fitting tribute for Bob.  “Winning a new kit would not only be great for investing funds to community projects,” Glenn says, “but it would do Bob and his late wife proud too.”

The under-11’s side, who play their home games at Blackfel School and compete in the Russell Foster Youth League, are a dedicated team, having previously packed bags for grateful shoppers to help boost club funds.  Now the youngsters are looking for locals to return the favour as they appeal for votes for a new kit as they make the step up from 5-a-side.  “They’re now playing eleven-a-side and we really need support to renew their strip and buy additional ones,” manager Tim Fraser explains.  “So to win sponsorship from Altro would be just brilliant and the lads would be really made up.”
