Recofloor

Following on from the successful WRAP funded trial ‘Recycle your Vinyl Flooring,’ Recofloor – the vinyl flooring industry’s take back scheme for post-use vinyl was launched in September 2009. Altro is one of two founder members of Recofloor and as the first manufacturer with the capability of recycling safety flooring in house, Altro collect and recycle all the safety flooring on behalf of Recofloor, irrespective of manufacturer.

Recofloor collects safety flooring and smooth vinyl off cuts, diverting them from landfill. These off cuts are recycled into new vinyl flooring products. Any collected post-consumer uplifted flooring waste is downcycled into road cones and other traffic calming products.

Recofloor has signed up to the joint WRAP/ industry initiative to ‘Halve Waste to Landfill’ in the construction industry by 2012’
