Altro offer a two-day flooring contractor training school at our head office in Letchworth, Hertfordshire. It is ideal for fitters who have some experience of laying sheet flooring, but feel they need a little extra practice in the skills and techniques required to install safety and rubber floors correctly.
The course is run by two flooring installers, with over 60 years' experience collectively in flooring. 80% is practical (hands on) and 20% theory; topics such as subfloor prep, how to produce the perfect internal and external mitre, and which adhesives to use etc are covered. The course is finished with individual toilet / shower module installations.
As well as flooring contractors, all Altro employees attend the course as part of our training to ensure we have a good understanding of our products and so we can appreciate potential problems that contractors can face. As someone who works in the Customer Care Centre in the 1st line technical department this training has been so beneficial for me.
I speak to contractors on a daily basis and the training has given me a real understanding of how Altro safety flooring and accessories should be installed which means when I do give technical information to our customers, it does come from practical experience. By the end of the training , I actually felt that I was pretty darn good at it! And that was from absolutely no background experience.
As the training school groups are small (never more than eight people) the trainers are able to spend a lot of one-to-one time with those on the course, so we can help tailor the training specifically to an individual's needs.
As an added bonus there is also a tour of manufacturing, which any visitor who has been to Altro will tell you is one of their main highlights - after all it's at the heart of where the magic happens!
The contractors on our course all expressed how much they had gained from attending, they felt confident with the new skills that they had learnt and were looking forward to putting them in to practice.
