A Reputation To Maintain

I was in a petrol station recently, queuing up to part with what would have been ten weeks wages for me back in 1967. I found myself second in line behind a man who was treating his car to a much needed bit of TLC and was trying to buy a car wash token. He was confused by the array of services on offer and was asking ever more probing questions of the completely disinterested teenaged assistant on the other side of the counter.

“So if I go for the silver wash, how does the machine know when to put the wax on?” he asked. This was swiftly followed by, “And if I have the gold wash, wheel clean and under chassis wash, how does the car get dried?”

With nobody seemingly willing or able to offer him a satisfactory reply, the man turned and marched out of the shop without his token, presumably to ponder further on the intricacies involved in cleaning his precious car and to find someone more willing to answer his needs.

Anyway, the man’s questions about the car wash got me thinking about cleaning issues relating to a subject close to my heart for obvious reasons - flooring.

It is vitally important that manufacturers such as Altro continue to respond to the needs of their customers and help them to overcome the challenges they face. As a company, we listen to our customers’ needs and respond both in terms of our product offering and service. We work with our customers to help them to improve their understanding of the characteristics of safety flooring. We also strive to develop our product portfolio to take into account the increasing demands of the marketplace, whether that involves enhanced design, improved ease of cleaning or varying degrees of slip resistance to suit a diverse range of situations from school corridor to swimming pool surround and everything in between.

One of the most frequent topics of customer requests is the best way to maintain safety flooring in a cost effective way. With this in mind the latest addition to our range is Altro Maxis Mirica, a 2mm safety floor launched in May this year, developed to retain its attractive appearance throughout the day, even in high traffic areas. Its modern patterned look is designed to minimise the visibility of scuffing and soiling between daily cleaning. With slip resistance meeting HSE standards, Mirica is ideal for use in high traffic areas such as corridors, and any other areas where a safe, durable surface is required. It will withstand daily wear and tear, providing excellent resistance to scuffing, staining and impact.

Mirica incorporates Altro Maxis ™ Easyclean technology to make cleaning and maintenance easier for the lifetime of the product, and has been proven to have a significant impact on life cycle costings.

Mirica also blends well with the Altro Suprema safety flooring range to give a variety of attractive mix and match possibilities. From a floor layer’s perspective, it’s a great material to work with, requiring all joints to be properly grooved, including mitres when the product is coved, to facilitate a good strong welded joint.
