New Floor For A New Term At Lightmoor Primary

When Lightmoor Village Primary School opened its doors for the very first time this term, excited pupils walked, ran and skipped along to join new classmates. Thanks to the installation of Altro’s safety flooring, there weren’t any slips or trips on the way.
The school, newly built as part of a £3.5million school and housing development project in Telford, welcomed 210 pupils to its modern building consisting of seven class rooms, social play areas, multi-use games area and school hall.
Bob Hesketh, Project Designer, from Telford & Wrekin Council, specified Altro flooring for various areas. He commented: “With hundreds of children pounding the floor every day, slip resistance, durability, cleanability and aesthetics were key to this modern, new-build school. And, with schools being a breeding ground for bugs, it’s essential that interior surfaces contain bacteriostats too. Altro’s products are tried and tested and do exactly what they say. We’ve specified Altro before and will continue to specify them in future projects too.”

In the classrooms Altro Walkway™ 20 was installed. Within the kitchen the likelihood of spilled food or chemicals is greater and the need for hygiene is paramount, therefore Altro Stronghold™ 30 was specified as the flooring solution. The 3mm thick safety flooring contains a bacteriostat, making it ideal for food preparation areas. It is comfortable to walk on and combines excellent under-foot security with long-term durability and ease of cleaning.
With potential for slips and trips, the flooring in the new shower areas needed to be carefully considered. Altro Marine™20, the company’s popular bare foot safety flooring, was installed. As part of Altro’s ‘second-generation’ floor coverings, Altro Marine boasts clean, crisp colour with no sparkle or dark flecks that are typical of other safety floors on the market.
In the changing areas Altro Classic™ 25 was laid. The original-slip resistant safety floor, it is a popular choice providing a durable, slip-resistant floor covering. For the multi-use games hall, Altro Mondosport™ II has been laid. This hard-working, cost-effective flooring combines a wood effect with the durability and slip resistance of a safety floor. It also boasts excellent resilience, shock absorption and ease of maintenance.
