AltroFlow EP Resin Offers Picture-Perfect Solution

Black Blue Photographic wanted a stunning yet practical floor to give just the right impression to visitors to their Welwyn Garden City photographic studios. AltroFlow EP high gloss resin system installed by ACC Flooring has delivered their picture-perfect solution.

AltroFlow EP is a three-part solvent-free, epoxy resin system which gives a high-gloss, easily cleaned, smooth seamless surface with good chemical and impact resistance. Trevor Burton of Black Blue Photographic is delighted with the finished product. "Our studios have a real wow factor now – that's so important when first impressions really do count."

Black Blue were trepidatious about the floor, having had a very bad experience with resin flooring from a different manufacturer and installer previously. Trevor Burton thought he'd found his perfect floor when he had a matt white resin installed at the photographic studios. However, poor workmanship left him instead with increasingly unsightly and unsafe floor which was failing. Uncertain of how to remedy the situation, he searched online to find examples of what he wanted to achieve. He found a stunning picture of high gloss AltroFlow on ACC Flooring's website and contacted the installer to find out more.

Nick Megson of ACC Flooring visited the photographic studios and was shocked by the poor quality of the previous installation. A cement-based levelling compound had been over-laid with resin before it had properly dried out, leading to large areas of the floor lifting. The solution was to take the floor right back to the concrete, then start again with correct and extensive substrate preparation, a 1mm scratch coat of resin followed by 3mm of AltroFlow once this was properly cured.

ACC Flooring worked out of hours to minimise disruption, completing the installation quickly and cleanly. "We've always had good results when we've used AltroFlow," explained Nick Megson of ACC Flooring. "We've found it has greater colour stability than other manufacturer's products, and this is backed up with great customer service. For this installation, we needed a sample to be sent overseas for the client to make their choice and Altro impressed us with the speed of their response."

Trevor Burton has finally got the floor he wanted, and couldn't be happier with the results. "It looks incredible. It hasn't scuffed or scratched, it's easy to clean – it's everything I wanted."
