The Pavilion, designed by renowned architect Dominic Perrault, is a hub for park users who like to use the café in this inspirational location. But in the early part of this year the floor in the development, began to move and cracks soon became visible in the painted surface. Having replaced the sub floor, the centre knew that they needed products that were durable enough to deal with the high footfall that The Pavilion experienced.

Altro Everlay A, Altro Maxis and Altro Suprema products were the perfect choice for the installation due to their flexibility, durability and cleanability meaning they effortlessly met the demands of this busy public domain. A broad palette of colours was also an important consideration and integral to the specialist design features of the floor. Fortunately, Altro's colour range and superior quality meant there was no compromise when it came to restoring the intricate swirling design pattern of the flooring.

Andrew Baker, Project Manager for CWC Flooring, specified the products for the development: "The original floor had a painted surface and was unable to deal with such volumes of people. I have worked with Altro on numerous occasions and knew that their products would be able to deal with the sheer number of visitors whilst maintaining the unique design of the floor and offering the durability and easy clean solutions that the clients required. This was a challenging project only made possible through the use of our expert fitters and the quality products that Altro supply."

Altro Suprema was the first safety floor to receive an A rating under the BRE environmental profiling scheme, and now has a generic A+ BRE Rating, whilst the Altro Maxis range is ideal for high traffic areas. The 2.5mm thick product contains patented Altro Easyclean™ Maxis Technology for superior cleanability and colour retention. Both come in a range of colours and are ideal for use in unique developments where an attractive appearance and safety underfoot are critical.

Altro presented CWC Flooring with an Installation Recognition Award for this project. Their consultative approach to client and specification, resulted in a creative, high design, technical installation.

"We chose Altro because they were the only company that seemed confident their products could offer the durability, stability and cleanability that a complex like ours required. We chose at the same time to install under-floor heating, so the material also had to be able to conduct the heat without affecting the product strength. We had the floor installed and it looks great! The material conducts the heat perfectly whilst managing to keep acoustics low which is important in a high footfall area. It is so much easier to clean now and The Pavilion always looks in great condition. We are delighted with the finish and it has restored the floor to its former glory."
