The new school was formed as part of a local schools reorganisation programme which saw Crocketts Lane Infant School combine with a local junior school to form a new centre for primary education. Direct funding from the Department for Children, Schools and Families meant that a new building was constructed to meet the needs of pupils and teachers in the 21st century.

Before moving to their new school, pupils were asked to suggest ideas for the artwork to decorate the corridors. Deciding upon a jungle theme, three large panels of Altro Whiterock Digiclad were installed with vibrant graphics inspired by giraffe, zebra and tiger print.

Altro Whiterock Digiclad is a unique service that allows bespoke images to be printed directly onto hygienic and durable PVC wall cladding. Cured inks are used to make the graphics incredibly hardwearing in even busy areas. The semi-rigid nature of Digiclad meant that fitters were able to bend it around the distinctive curved breakout classroom pods.

"Our old building dated from the 1970s, with all classrooms based around a central school hall. It was very noisy, and meant that moving classes around for different activities often interrupted other lessons. Our new building helps us to deliver our thematic curriculum with shared breakout areas which can be themed to fit with the subject being developed. The atmosphere this term has changed considerably, as everything seems much calmer and more organised. It certainly highlights the positive impact good design of school building can have on children's education. We've had a great response from staff and visitors alike to the Altro DigiClad artwork in our corridors – and the pupils absolutely love it!"
