Here at Altro we offer 2 versions of our liquid damp-proof membrane (DPM), AltroProof Solo. AltroProof Solo Universal and AltroProof Solo Fast Track are both single coat application suitable to go on screeds up to 97% RH (Relative Humidity).
But the big question is, how do DPMs work & where will the moisture go? Contrary to theories that liquid DPMs stop moisture vapour moving through the product altogether, they do actually allow vapour to travel through the product, but at much slower and more manageable rate.
An easy way to picture this process is if you imagine that Liquid DPMs are full of microscopic mazes. Instead of the vapour just rising straight up, the DPM creates a maze for the vapour to move through, which slows the speed to such a level that when it does reach the top of the DPM, it will escape through any coating, such as safety flooring, at a rate and volume that can be handled.
