I thought there was a bit of a rumbling at Altro and it must have been the vibrations from our very own recycling machine here at Letchworth. It has been munching its way through an abundance of waste safety and smooth vinyl flooring off cuts that we have taken back from across the country as part of our commitment to Recofloor – The Vinyl Take Back scheme.
What happens to all this recycled material? Well, everything is cleverly separated and recycled. By feeding the recycled material back into the production of our safety flooring we have reduced our CO² emissions and waste to landfill.
It transpires that all this effort has contributed towards the 447 tonnes of vinyl recycling waste in 2011, which is well over double the 189 tonnes recovered in 2010!
